Ask whether they finished a state-approved program and whether they are on the registry this setting uses. A nursing home that bills Medicare or Medicaid does not get to skip that. A hospital may be on a different rule.

A nursing home that copies a national midpoint will lose a reliable aide to the building down the hall. Use this metro's median for someone still learning the round, and the 75th for someone who can carry a full assignment on the first shift. License and training

Nursing homes in Medicare or Medicaid use aides from a state-approved program who are on the state registry. The federal floor is at least 75 clock hours, with at least 16 of those hours supervised by an RN or LPN. States may require more hours than that floor. Hospitals and home health can use a different rule, so read the state registry before you rely on the federal floor.

What does a CNA do on a shift?

The hands-on round is bathing, transfers, meals, vital signs, and call lights. The aide reports what changed. The nursing assessment stays with the nurse, and so does any change to the ordered treatment.

Why does the wage say nursing assistant?

The dollar figures are the BLS nursing-assistant series, SOC 31-1131. CNA is the name people use on the floor. The table is that series, not a separate CNA wage. A posting that says CNA and quotes some other occupation is not using this page.
