You are staffing one counter or one hospital pharmacy, not a health system. The technician you want can walk to the pharmacy down the street, so the offer has to work on this block.
Ask whether they have filled under a pharmacist in a setting like yours, and whether this state requires registration. A PTCB or NHA certificate is not that registration.
A pharmacy that pastes a national midpoint into the posting will lose a reliable technician to the counter across the street. License and training
A PTCB CPhT or an NHA ExCPT is a national certificate, and it is not a state license. Some states require registration, some require the certificate, and some require neither. Confirm the current rule with that state's board of pharmacy before you treat the certificate as enough.
Texas
Texas registers pharmacy technicians with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. A registered technician needs a current PTCB or NHA ExCPT certification. Trainee registration is separate and one-time, and it is not the technician registration.
Questions
What does a pharmacy technician do on a shift?
The shift is the queue. Data entry, counting, labeling, inventory, and insurance rejects fill the day. At pickup the technician can say whether a refill is ready. The pharmacist still checks the medication before it leaves, and counseling on the drug stays there too.
Is a national certificate the same as a state license?
