Hire a Phlebotomist in New York, NY
The hospital outpatient desk is the other offer a one-site lab is up against. Price a hire you will still coach at the median, and use the 75th for someone who can open the station alone. The 75th percentile in New York is about $60.3K.
What to offer
A small lab that copies a national midpoint will lose a reliable phlebotomist to the hospital outpatient desk. Use this metro's median for someone you will still be coaching, and the 75th for someone who can open the draw station alone. Blank cells mean BLS did not publish that percentile here.

How hard this is to fill
For one manager
You need someone who can open a draw station, not a technologist who runs the analyzer. Ask about unaided venipunctures, a queue versus a hospital round, and the state credential in California, Louisiana, Nevada, or Washington.
The name, the time, and the tube type should be finished before the patient leaves the chair. A fast draw with a sloppy label is the expensive kind of fast, and a national certificate still does not replace the state rule.
License and training
New York does not license phlebotomists. The Education Department says they may collect blood and receive urine samples, and they may not perform tests or procedures on those samples. A clinical laboratory technologist license is a different profession. Do not treat a phlebotomy certificate as that license, or that license as permission to skip the draw rules your lab already has.

Questions
What do phlebotomists earn in New York, NY?
In New York, the May 2025 median is about $50.0K, 11% over the U.S. median. The state median is about $50.5K, and this metro is within 3 percent of that figure. Most phlebotomists in New York earn between about $47.7K (25th percentile) and $60.3K (75th percentile).
Where do phlebotomists work in New York?
Hospitals and diagnostic labs are the large employers in the national figures, and offices and donor sites hire phlebotomists too. An empty extract for New York means we had no matched workplaces, not that the jobs are gone.
Do I need a state certificate to draw blood in New York?
Read the New York section on this page. California, Louisiana, Nevada, and Washington are the states where we found a required credential. Florida excludes phlebotomists from the clinical laboratory personnel license, and New York says they are not licensed. If New York is not one of those, confirm it locally before you start in New York.
What should a small lab in New York require?
Require the state credential if New York has one, a clean labeling habit, and enough sticks that you are not their first vein. National openings are about 18.0 thousand a year and projected growth is 6.8%, which describes the country. New York is the wage table and roughly a fifth fewer of these workers than a typical metro, not that national line.
